Duplex Scaling
In regular pianos there is a section of the strings which is "unused". This section is usually muted with a strip of cloth to prevent noise. The Duplex Scaling allows resonance of this section, therefore allows the none speaking length of the strings to vibrate enhancing the tonal quality of the piano. All Yamaha grands have duplex scaling apart from the GA1 & the G1.

Action Rail
Traditional rails were made from wood but due to whether conditions etc, wooden action rails could easily move causing changes in the touch. Yamahas unique patent of an Alumimium action rail has produced a very stable action.

Sound Board
Yamahas solid spruce sound boards enrich the tone of the bass and produce the almost perfect treble.

Action Parts
Yamaha use the very best felts and leathers in their grand actions, maple action parts and virgin copper on their bass strings.

Case Work
The look of any piano depends on how well the case parts have been polished. Yamaha polish their pianos with robot controlled spray booths. The finish is amazing and gives all their pianos that classic stunning look.
